CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) headed by Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, Regional Director conducted on Thursday morning (May 28) the simultaneous disaster preparedness audit to all units and personnel of PRO1 involved in search and rescue operations. PCSupt. Felix said the disaster preparedness audit held at the PRO1 Parade Ground is a way of assessing and evaluating the capability, capacity and operational readiness of the various sub-task groups (STGs) of the PRO1 Disaster Incident Management Task Groups (DIMTGs) to include those at the Police Provincial Offices, in responding to calls during disasters or calamities.The just concluded audit is vital as it purposely develops our resilience and determines our level of compliance in terms of disaster preparedness. And, from this audit, we can improve our capabilities and even address defects noted during the assessment and evaluation, PCSupt. Felix added. The Regional Director likewise stressed a constant coordination with the Office of the Civil Defense and other partner agencies and stakeholders for a unified approach in times of emergency cases. Meanwhile, Police Senior Superintendent Reynaldo G. Biay, Chief of the Regional Directorial Staff of PRO1 emphasized in his guidance the responsibility of the police not only in search and rescue, but also in risk reduction management and cited the importance of being prepared at all times. The disaster preparedness audit was primarily focused on checking the individual Search and Rescue equipment (showdown inspection of different rescue gears and equipment), accounting of SAR trained PNP personnel and readiness of Sub-Task Groups (STGs). Likewise, PRO1 will conduct various emergency response drills in the coming days to ensure operational readiness in any eventuality especially that the rainy season is approaching.

Felix, Regional Director together with the National Police Commission- Regional Office 1 (NAPOLCOM-RO1) kicked-off on Monday (June 29) the 20th Police Community Relations Month Celebration at the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) grandstand which highlighted the awarding of medals to Police Commissioned Officers (PCO), Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCO) and local government official who have immensely contributed and supported the conduct of various PCR activities in their respective AORs covering the period June 2014 to May 2015.
