CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- the Philippine top cop Police Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa paid his first command visit to Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) as he graced the commemoration of the 115th Police Service Anniversary on Friday (September 2) held at the PRO1 Grandstand.

The 21st Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) nicknamed “Bato” led the conferment of awards to the PNP personnel and PNP Units who displayed their outstanding performance and to the local government officials and stakeholders who greatly helped PRO1 in its pursuit of peace and order.

In his message, PDG Dela Rosa exhorted members of the Region 1 police to double or even triple their efforts in the anti-illegal drugs campaign considering that the PNP is almost halfway of the six months timeline set by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We cannot afford to fail the President, much more that we cannot afford to fail the Filipino people. We have to double or even triple our efforts in the fight against illegal drugs. Ito na ang chance natin, hindi bilang isang pulis, hindi bilang isang sundalo, hindi bilang isang pulitiko at hindi bilang isang ordinaryong mamamayan; kundi bilang isang Pilipino na nagnanais na mai-angat ang ating reputasyon bilang isang bansa,” PDG Dela Rosa stressed.

The Chief, PNP congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude to the stakeholders especially the barangay captains for undoubtedly helping the police in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

“Sa aming mga kababayan, tulungan po ninyo kami na magdasal upang makamit natin ang ating mithiin na magtagumpay at sana sa pagkamit nito ay hindi po kami magkakamali. Kayo po ang aming inspirasyon sa laban na ito,” he added.

Meanwhile, Police Chief Superintendent Gregorio R. CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- the Philippine National Police top cop Police Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa visited Region 1 and paid his command visit to Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office on Wednesday (March 22).

The Chief PNP and his party together with Police Chief Superintendent Charlo C. Collado, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) and other senior police officers of PRO1 arrived at Camp Elpidio Quirino in Bulag Bantay, Ilocos Sur at around 12:00 noon for the talk to the men.

In his message, PDG Dela Rosa emphasized the stern implementation of internal cleansing as he encouraged everyone to take part in the campaign to wage those misfits and rogues personnel hiding behind their uniforms.

“I challenged you to do your job well in accordance with the Rule of Law, PNP guidelines and procedures and with morality and integrity since that we are dedicated in continuing the campaign against illegal drugs,” PDG Dela Rosa added.

The Chief, PNP ended his visit with a boodle fight lunch with the personnel of PNP Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, PDG Dela Rosa and PCSupt. Collado visited also one of the wounded personnel of the recent ambuscade transpired in Malibcong, Abra, who was confined at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union.###

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Police Chief Superintendent Gregorio R. Pimentel received the flag of responsibility as he assumed his post as the new Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) on Thursday (July 19) afternoon during a simple turn-over ceremony held at the PRO1 Grandstand.

PCSupt. Pimentel, the then Deputy Regional Director for Administration of PRO13 and a native of San Quintin, Pangasinan replaced PCSupt. Ericson T. Velasquez who rendered almost one year service in this region.

The turn-over ceremony was officiated by PCSupt. Ramon C. Apolinario, the PNP’s Acting Chief of the Directorial Staff. The three generals were classmates at the Philippine Military Academy and members of the PMA “Sandiwa” Class of 1985.

In his assumption speech, PCSupt. Pimentel said that he will continue the good works of his predecessor and engage crime busting advocacies to make Region 1 a premiere region in Luzon. He also vowed to clean the ranks up to the lowest unit under his command.

 “I commit myself to sincerity and dedication to duty and we will unite and work hand-in-hand to attain our goal for better public service and we should never get tired of doing what is good,” PCSupt. Pimentel added.

 Meanwhile, PCSupt. Velasquez expressed his gratitude to the men and women of PRO1 especially the community for their support and cooperation during his term as he even encouraged them to commit the same to his predecessor.  “I am justifiably proud for what PRO1 had accomplished in almost a year. But, the glory is not mine to take. It is you, the men and women in PRO1, to whom the credit is due,” he said.

 PCSupt. Velasquez now designated as the Officer-in-Charge of the Directorate for Police Community Relations, a two-star rank position at National Headquarters in Camp Crame.

 After the turn-over rites, a command conference was held at the Concord Building presided over by PCSupt. Pimentel. ###

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Police Regional Office 1, under the leadership of Police Chief Superintendent Gregorio R. Pimentel, Regional Director, with its aggressive campaign against illegal drugs finally captured Mr. Ronnie P. Dayan, the former driver/bodyguard of Senator Leila De Lima, after series of police operations (November 21-22) at Bacnotan, San Juan, San Gabriel, City of San Fernando, all in La Union and in Pangasinan.

Immediately after an order of arrest for contempt for refusal without legal excuse to obey summons issued by the Justice Committee of the House of Representatives last October 11, 2016 against Mr. Dayan, the RD of PRO1 ordered regionwide manhunt for his immediate arrest.

PCSupt. Pimentel confirmed the arrested person as Mr. Dayan, 44, a resident of Barangay Galarin, Urbiztondo, Pangasinan who was apprehended at Sitio Turod, Guinguinabang, San Juan, La Union on November 22, 2016 at around 11:55 AM.

The said arrest was conducted by combined personnel of La Union Police Provincial Office, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-La Union.

Reports reaching this headquarters, Dayan built a nipa hut at the lot of Mr. Ancheta in Sitio Bato, Lacong, San Gabriel where he hid together with his fighting cocks since August 2016. Dayan introduced himself as Orlando Abat alias Dodong.

Dayan was immediately brought to the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame shortly after his arrest. ###

Uyami Jr. paid his first command visit to Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) as he graced the commemoration of the 26th PNP Foundation Day on Thursday morning (February 9).

The Deputy Chief PNP for Administration led the conferment of awards to the PNP personnel who displayed their outstanding performance and who greatly helped PRO1 in its pursuit of peace and order.

PDDG Uyami Jr. conferred the Medalya ng Kadakilaan to PCSupt. Gregorio R. Pimentel, Regional Director of PRO1 in recognition of his noteworthy acts of heroism as the over-all in charge of the month-long concerted intelligence build-up and manhunt operations that resulted in the arrest of Ronnie P. Dayan.

In his message, PDDG Uyami Jr. congratulated all the awardees and he exhorted that these awards shall serve as inspiration in bringing the PNP service into greater heights despite of the negative issues involving some misfit personnel of the PNP.

 “Let us not waste what has been sacrificed for the past 26 years for the PNP has journeyed along the rough and difficult road of policing in serving the people, in protecting the community, in facing overwhelming challenges and even suffering the pain of losing men and women in deadly encounters with lawless elements,” PDDG Uyami Jr. said.

 He also cited the extreme sacrifices of the SAF 44, Police Chief Inspector Bernard E. Pagaduan and his team who were awarded the “Sugatang Magiting” (PNP Wounded Personnel Medal) and a certain PO3 Angelo Cortez who was killed while conducting surveillance operation against illegal drug trafficking in Pangasinan sometime in 2016.

 “I am standing in front of you today for the last time as the Deputy Chief PNP for Administration. In March, I will surrender my badge with deep humility and great pride to our beloved organization.
