CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Police Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) welcomed the highest in command of the Commission on Elections in Region 1 Atty. Noli R. Pipo as the latter graced the Distinguished Visitor Program, being the guest of honor and speaker, coincided with the flag raising ceremony on Monday (December 7) held at the PRO1 Grandstand.
In his message, Atty. Pipo emphasized the PNP’s role during elections as he expressed gratitude to the members of Region 1 police for always being an active partner of the Commission on Elections.

“I hope every one of you in the PNP particularly in Region 1 will continually realize how important your role in the conduct of an honest, orderly, peaceful and credible elections. Always bear in mind that you are not just doing this for the COMELEC or because it is your job; but you are doing this for the sake of our children and for the people. When you’re doing it for the people, you are doing it for God and country,” Atty. Pipo added.

Meanwhile, PCSupt. Velasquez together with Atty. Pipo conferred the “Medalya ng Papuri” (PNP Commendation Medal) to Police Officer 1 Flores B. Diga in recognition of her outstanding display of dedication and unselfish service during an emergency on November 22, 2015 when a mother gave birth while on board a bus bound for Manila.

PO1 Diga who is assigned at Santiago Police Station in Ilocos Sur and a registered nurse immediately responded to the call of duty when somebody cried for help from a passenger of a bus stopped near their police station.

In an interview, PO1 Diga narrated that she was worried of what she saw but because of the life threatening situation, she immediately provided assistance and was able to facilitate the successful delivery of the baby without any complication or injury, thus keeping both the mother and the baby safe.
“I am happy not just because of the award that I received, but most especially I was able to help in my own little ways as police officer and nurse as well,” PO1 Diga said.

The awarding of said medal is in accordance with the provision of National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Memorandum Circular Number 93-018 as amended by Memorandum Circular Number 2006-003 in furtherance of Republic Act 6975.
